Fischer Property

LOCATION

The Fischer property is located between Old Cranbury Road and South Main Street north of the Millstone River.  

DIRECTIONS/PARKING

Follow South Main Street to Old Trenton Road west and take the first left turn onto Old Cranbury Road.  Parking is in a small gravel lot on the right just before the bridge over the Millstone River (this leads to the Pin Oak Trail on Hagerty).  This puts you on Hagerty, from which you walk north and cross the road to Fischer.

The property is 53.3 acres.

FEATURES

There is a shaded trail between South Main Street and Old Cranbury Road on the north of the property.  This links to trails on the Hagerty property across Old Cranbury Road.  Most of the rest of the property is leased to a local farmer to farm the land.  There are no restrooms.

No reservations are necessary.

DESCRIPTION/HISTORY

The property is considered to be a gateway to Historic Cranbury Village since it was one of the first properties seen when entering the Village on South Main Street.  It is part of the Millstone River Greenway and has frontage not only on the river but also 1500 feet along Old Cranbury Road to the west and 1000 feet along South Main Street to the east.  The County contributed to this acquisition in 2004 and the rest of the funding came from the open space preservation tax.  The property should be used "for open space and recreation purposes."  The property is not serviced by Township water or sewer.
