Please note that some jobs which may be assumed to be cosmetic MAY, in fact, require a permit. Some examples are: replacing water heaters, replacing or conversion of heating and cooling systems, porch construction, deck construction and above-ground pool installation.
Recent changes have been implemented by the State of New Jersey which include NO permit requirement for residential roofing, siding or repairs to existing decks or porches (only if footings need to be relocated or added). Residential sheds under 200 square feet do not require a building permit.
Also, some ordinary maintenance which may not necessarily require a building permit, may require a Zoning and/or Permission from our Historic Preservation Committee or HPC.
Feel free to contact our office with any questions about permitting and the permitting process. We are more than happy to help.
