The Bureau of Fire Safety of the Township of Cranbury shall enforce the Uniform Fire Safety Act and the codes and regulations adopted under it in all buildings, structures and premises within the Township of Cranbury and shall faithfully comply with requirements of the Uniform Fire Safety Act and the Uniform Fire Code, except that owner-occupied one- and two-family dwellings and buildings owned or operated by the federal government, the state or interstate agencies shall be exempt from inspection, registration and permit requirements

Cranbury Township Ordinance requires that all Cranbury Township businesses be registered with the Fire Safety Bureau.

The Fire Safety Bureau also conducts one-and two-Family Dwelling Certificate of Smoke Alarm, Carbon Monoxide Alarm and Portable Fire Extinguisher Compliance Inspections. Before any one or two family or attached structure is sold, leased or otherwise made subject to a change of occupancy for residential purposes, the owner shall obtain a Certificate of Smoke Alarm, Carbon Monoxide Alarm and Portable Fire Extinguisher Compliance Certificate.
