The Board of Recreation Commissioners was established by the Township Committee in 1961. The board is responsible for providing, conducting and supervising recreational activities in the Township. This body is also empowered to adopt and enforce rules concerning the use of Brainerd Lake for sports activities.

The board consists of seven regular members and two alternates who are residents of Cranbury. They are appointed to serve five year terms by the Mayor. Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term of office so vacated. Unless noticed otherwise, these meetings will be held on the fourth Thursday, in the Town Hall, Gallery, starting at 7:00 p.m. The Board does not meet in July and November.
