TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING
A meeting of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board was held in Town Hall on December 18, 2007, at 9:00 a.m.
CALL TO ORDER
With a quorum present, Rosemary Seghatoleslami, Chairwoman of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board, called the meeting to order and acted as the Chairwoman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Recording Secretary of the meeting.
MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE
Phyllis Bialor, Warren Perrine, Howard Zogott, Jay Hansen and Rosemary Seghatoleslami.
NON-MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE
Betty Conover, Anna Johnson and Marilynn Mullen.
MINUTES
The minutes of the November 20, 2007, meeting were reviewed and approved.
WORK SESSION:
The Human Services Board will have nine members for 2008. Phyllis will speak to Diane at Four Seasons to see if any residents may be interested in becoming members.
Howard is preparing an article for the Township Newsletter.
Cranbury Senior Community Center
Room Improvements/Furnishings –
Kristen will order an A-Frame sign.
On-Going Programming:
There was a good turn out for the December 14th Holiday Sing-a-long. Four people showed up for the November 30th movie.
The following schedule was finalized. The information will be published in the Township Newsletter and postcards will be sent at the beginning of January.
January 11 – Nancy Scharff
January 25 – Movie “Lion in Winter”
February 8 – “Cranbury Past and Present” with Betty Wagner and Ginny Swanagan.
February 16 – Windsor Trio musical program
February 22 – Movie “1776” (1:30pm) preceded by blood pressure screening at 1:00pm
March 14 – Bagpiper.
March 28 – Movie “Finian’s Rainbow”
April 11 – Police program on fraud
April 25 – Movie “The Sting”
May 16 – Movie “Ratatouille”
May 31 (Saturday) – Wii activity with high schoolers.
June 13 – Antique appraisals. Will schedule for 1:30pm due to it being the last day of school.
June 27 – Movie “The Queen”
Phyllis will put all of the dates on the community calendar.
A blood pressure screening will be held before the February 22nd movie. The Board of Health will provide the screener. Anna will schedule. If the blood pressure screening is successful, it could be held on a continuing basis. Skin cancer screenings and glaucoma screenings are also a possibility.
The HS members are urged to come up with ideas for programs for the second half of 2008. Rosemary suggested that a one year anniversary party be held in September to coincide with the Golden Agers meeting. Howard will check the availability of Edward Bogusz and Friends.
Discussion –
Transportation Grant – Phyllis will speak with Christine Smeltzer regarding the possibility of filing a grant for senior transportation.
Medicare Counselor – Three people attended the appointments on December 12th. The counselor left a DVD at the library. Howard will advise of the availability of the DVD in the Township Newsletter.
Howard suggested that someone from the Human Services Board speak before the area senior groups to advise of upcoming programs.
Kristen will send an email to Christine Smeltzer to advise that the trash is not being taken out on a regular basis.
Kristen will get instructions for the telephone and post in the Senior Center.
Meeting
The next meeting of the Human Services Board will be held on January 15, 2008, at 1:00 pm.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 am.
