TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING
A meeting of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board was held in Town Hall on November 20, 2007, at 1:00 p.m.
CALL TO ORDER
With a quorum present, Rosemary Seghatoleslami, Chairwoman of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board, called the meeting to order and acted as the Chairwoman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Recording Secretary of the meeting.
MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE
Phyllis Bialor, Marie Perrine, Warren Perrine, Howard Zogott, Jay Hansen and Rosemary Seghatoleslami.
NON-MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE
Betty Conover, Anna Johnson and Marilynn Mullen.
MINUTES
The minutes of the October 16, 2007, meeting were reviewed and approved.
WORK SESSION:
Cranbury Senior Community Center
Room Improvements/Furnishings –
Runners have been installed in the hallway.
No additional improvements are desired at this time.
On-Going Programming:
Marie apologized for a scheduling conflict with the January 19, 2008, musical program with Nancy Scharff. Rosemary will contact Ms. Scharff to see if she is available for January 11th.
The Board discussed programs and came up with the following tentative schedule. The schedule should be finalized at the December meeting so the information can be published in the Township Newsletter and postcards can be sent at the beginning of January.
January 11 – Nancy Scharff
January 25 – Movie “Lion in Winter”
February 8 – “Cranbury Past and Present” with Betty Wagner and Ginny Swanagan.
February 22 – Movie “1776”
March 14 – Bagpiper. Jay will contact potential performer. If he is not available, possible travel program on Ireland by Tom and Mary Reilly.
March 28 – Movie “Finian’s Rainbow”
April 11 – Police program on fraud
April 25 – Movie “The Sting”
May 3 (Saturday) – Wii activity with high schoolers. Marilyn to confirm.
May 16 – Movie “Ratatouille”
June 13 – Antique appraisals. Phyllis to schedule. This event should possibly be held at 1:30pm due to an early dismissal at Cranbury School.
June 27 – Movie “The Queen”
Phyllis suggested an art lecture for a program. Some members of the Board feel people would not be interested.
A program on global warming was brought up as another possibility.
Betty suggested that blood pressure screenings be held. Rosemary will contact the Health Officer for information.
Discussion –
2008 Appointments – Rosemary has requested that Arlene Duran, Anna Johnson and Betty Conover be appointed as members. Kristen will inquire when the appointments will become effective.
Township Newsletter – The article for the newsletter should advise the public that the Senior Community Center is available for use by groups.
Medicare Counselor – All appointments have been filled. Due to the Township not having a computer and printer available for the counselor at the December 12th session, Howard will check the library for availability.
Marie advised that she has ordered a CD with information and will give it to the library.
Meeting
Due to a conflict with some members, the next meeting of the Human Services Board will be held on December 18, 2007, at 9:00 am.
ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:00 pm.
