TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING

A meeting of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board was held in Town Hall on September 18, 2007, at 1:00 p.m.

CALL TO ORDER

With a quorum present, Rosemary Seghatoleslami, Chairwoman of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board, called the meeting to order and acted as the Chairwoman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Recording Secretary of the meeting.

MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE

Phyllis Bialor, Marie Dey, Warren Perrine and Rosemary Seghatoleslami.

NON-MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE

Betty Conover.

MINUTES

The minutes of the August 30, 2007, meeting were reviewed and approved.

WORK SESSION:

Budget – After discussion, the Board decided to ask for the following monies for 2008:

· $500.00 – Food pantry

· $3,000.00 – Programming

· $500.00 – Printing

Cranbury Senior Community Center

Room Improvements/Furnishings – The following items are desired for the room:

· A sign for the door to the Senior Center.  Kristen will speak to Jerry Thorne regarding same.

· A permanent “Entrance in Rear” sign to be attached to the outside sign.  Kristen will send an email to Christine Smeltzer requesting same.

· Cell phone with charger.  Kristen will get a phone from the Police Department.

· Additional electrical outlets.  Kristen will send an email to Christine Smeltzer requesting same.

· Clock.  Kristen will obtain through Office Depot or advise Phyllis to purchase same.

· Rug runners for hallway.  Kristen will obtain through Office Depot or advise Phyllis to purchase same.

· A wheeled cart.  Kristen will obtain.

· Storage cabinet.  Kristen will obtain.

· Teapot with auto shut-off.  Kristen will see if Office Depot carries same.

· Foldable screen to cover ventilation equipment.  Rosemary will look for possibilities.

Opening Program:

The opening was very successful with over 80 people attending.  Rush Holt cut the ribbon.  SuperFresh donated the cake, ShopRite donated cookies and Dunkin Donuts donated coffee.  Thank you notes have been sent.  Members of the Board have received numerous positive comments.

A donation should be made to Edward Bogusz and Friends, who provided the entertainment program.

On-Going Programming: 

Phyllis will contact the Senior Living Institute about possible programs.

Marie will contact Peg Chester regarding the tentative counseling sessions.

Marie may know of a string quartet for a program and a Tai Chi demonstration for Chinese New Year.

Betty Conover suggested bingo for a program.  Kristen will look into purchasing a bingo cage.

Betty may also know of a tax preparer that could do a program.

Rosemary and Phyllis will speak with Marilyn Mullen at the library regarding the upcoming movie.

Rosemary will notify Lorraine Sedor and the Cranbury Press regarding upcoming programs.

Kristen will send Information regarding the upcoming movie scheduled for September 28, 2007, to Kathy Cunningham.

Everyone should be thinking of possible programs.

Programming postcards have been placed in the Library and should also be given to Four Seasons.

Discussion –

Kristen will contact the Health Department to see if the Senior Community Center room could be used for flu shots rather than the Methodist Church.  This would give people an opportunity to see the room.

Marie will provide Kristen with the address to send a thank you note for the 50 pounds of coffee donated by Dunkin Donuts.

Rosemary will check into the Middlesex County transportation grant.

Meeting

            The next meeting of the Human Services Board will be held on October 16, 2007, at 1:00pm.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:50pm.
