OF THE

HUMAN SERVICES BOARD

CRANBURY, NEW JERSEY

MIDDLESEX COUNTY

TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING

The regular meeting of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board was held in Town Hall on May 17, 2006, at 7:00 p.m.

CALL TO ORDER

With a quorum present, Rosemary Seghatoleslami, Chairwoman of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board, called the meeting to order and acted as the Chairwoman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Recording Secretary of the meeting.

MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE

Joe Colombo, John Ritter, Jay Hansen, Marie Dey, Warren Perrine, Les Hendrickson and Rosemary Seghatoleslami.

MINUTES

The minutes of the April 19, 2006, meeting were reviewed and approved.

WORK SESSION

Rosemary will inquire how to reserve a table for Cranbury Day.  Possible items to be distributed are pamphlets available through the State, Middlesex County and/or AARP and magnetic refrigerator “pouches” to store medical/emergency information, which Joe believes are available through the County.

A question was raised if photo IDs are available for seniors who do not drive and, if so, are they universally accepted?  Chief Hansen believes that the Department of Motor Vehicles issues IDs for non-drivers and Marie has an ID issued by Middlesex County.   This would be a question that could be raised when the Board meets with the Middlesex County Human Services Board.

The Property Tax Reimbursement Application is due by June 1, 2006.  John will have a reminder put in the “Around Cranbury” column of the Cranbury Press and also on the Township’s website.  Rosemary will see when the form is available for next year and if it could be included in the Cranbury Day handouts.

John will contact the Middlesex County Office on Aging to inquire if they will come to Cranbury for the June meeting to discuss services available for Cranbury seniors.  He will also inquire about the County ID mentioned above.

A discussion was held as to how to compile a list of seniors living within Cranbury.  John suggested going through the Township mailing list.  Joe is concerned with a privacy issue being raised.  The Secretary will inquire of the Township Clerk if the voting records are obtainable which may contain birthrates.

The Table of Contents for the Resource Directory was discussed.  Les, John, Joe and Rosemary will meet on Tuesday, May 23rd, at 7:00 pm, for the purpose of establishing a Table of Contents and assigning duties to update the Directory.

Rosemary spoke with Connie Bauder, who organizes the senior activities through the Presbyterian Church.  Pari Stave has contacted Connie to inquire what she needs to run the programs.  Connie is preparing a list of “wants” for Pari.

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
