MINUTES
OF THE
CRANBURY TOWNSHIP
HUMAN SERVICES BOARD
CRANBURY, NEW JERSEY
MIDDLESEX COUNTY
TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING
The regular
meeting of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board was held in Town Hall on
April 19, 2006, at 7:00 p.m.
CALL TO ORDER
With a
quorum present, Rosemary Seghatoleslami, Chairwoman of the Cranbury Township
Human Services Board, called the meeting to order and acted as the Chairwoman
thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Recording Secretary of the meeting.
MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE
Joe Colombo,
John Ritter, Jay Hansen, Marie Dey, Warren Perrine and Rosemary Seghatoleslami.
MINUTES
The minutes
of the March 15, 2006, meeting were reviewed and approved.
WORK SESSION
John Ritter
advised that there is one more Medicare Part D session scheduled at Town Hall
for April 26, 2006.
On March 16, 2006, John and Rosemary met with the County representative at Town Hall for the purpose of inquiring about services available for seniors. Representatives from the Cranbury Presbyterian Church were also present. John feels that the Human Services Board should prepare a list of questions before scheduling an appointment to speak with the Middlesex County Human Services Board. John will inquire if the Middlesex County representative will come to Cranbury rather than the Board traveling to New Brunswick.
It was
decided that the Human Services Board should have a table at Cranbury Day to
distribute information. Possible items
to be distributed are pamphlets available through Middlesex County and magnetic
refrigerator “pouches” to store medical/emergency information.
John
provided copies of the 2006 Resource Directory for Older Adults produced
by the Middlesex County Department on Aging.
Some of the information contained in the Directory could be used for
Cranbury’s brochure.
John feels
that all religious organizations and attorneys should be notified of the
availability (with emphasis on confidentiality) of Jan Bayern’s services.
John provided copies
of the AWTS (Area Wide Transportation Services) and 8A Shuttle brochures, which
include limited transportation available to Cranbury residents. It was questioned if insurance could be
provided through the Township if a local transportation system could be
established.
John has spoken to
Connie Bauder, who organizes the senior activities through the Presbyterian
Church. The exercise class currently run
for seniors at the Church does not have the necessary funding to continue
through the summer months. Pari Stave is
inquiring if money could be provided through the Recreation Department.
Jay Hansen provided
information regarding “ICE” (in case of emergency) numbers to be programmed in
cell phones. An article regarding this
procedure will be put in the next Township newsletter.
It was decided that
the following items will be addressed at the next Human Services meeting to be
held on May 17, 2006:
·
Compile a list
of seniors living within the Township.
·
Compile a list
of questions to be presented to the Middlesex County Human Services Board.
·
Establish what
information should be available at Cranbury Day.
·
Establish a
Table of Contents for information to be included in a Human Services brochure.
ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
There being
no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
