OF THE
CRANBURY TOWNSHIP
HUMAN SERVICES BOARD
CRANBURY, NEW JERSEY
MIDDLESEX COUNTY
TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING
The regular meeting of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board was held in Town Hall on February 20, 2007, at 1:00 p.m.
CALL TO ORDER
With a quorum present, Rosemary Seghatoleslami, Chairwoman of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board, called the meeting to order and acted as the Chairwoman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Recording Secretary of the meeting.
MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE
John Ritter, Marie Dey, Phyllis Bialor, Joe Colombo, Jay Hansen and Rosemary Seghatoleslami.
NON-MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE
Sally Shakun and Betty Conover.
MINUTES
The minutes of the January 16, 2007, meeting were reviewed and approved.
WORK SESSION
Cranbury Senior Community Center – John provided a list of building capital improvements which he prepared as a result of meeting with Greg Farrington, the Construction Official. The list includes what should be done to the room and entrance to make it safer and more aesthetically pleasing.
John handed out a list of potential furnishings for the room with approximate costs. It was determined that the Board should try to procure the same type of armchair already in the room. The list needs to be prioritized with tables, chairs, book shelves and storage cabinets being given top priority. John, Rosemary and Kristen will be going to Crate and Barrel next Tuesday to see what donations can be obtained.
The Township has installed a sign for the “Senior Community Center”.
It was determined that a May grand opening is questionable due to the fact that the grant monies from Middlesex County will not be available until April. It was decided that a grand opening in June would be more feasible, preferably the same day that the Golden Agers meet.
Kristen will obtain a list of businesses in Cranbury and solicit for donations.
Possible events for the room include 5 – 6 lectures through the Police Department, AARP speakers and a film series. Betty Conover suggested that movies of Cranbury from the Historical Society be used as the first program.
DISCUSSION
Sally Shakun expressed her interest in becoming a member of the Human Services Board. Kristen will ask Mayor Stout to appoint Mrs. Shakun.
ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:45 p.m.
