Cranbury Township Construction/Code Enforcement Office Hours The Construction Office assists the general public including contractors, in securing the appropriate permit(s) for work which is being done to their homes/businesses. The necessity of such an office is to ensure safety and compliance of State and Local codes which pertain to construction. During construction or renovation, inspections are necessary at different stages of the projects to make sure everything is being constructed properly and to code. The Cranbury Construction Office strives to deliver professional, courteous customer service and to assist both homeowners and contractors to make the application process as easy and understandable as possible. Please note that some jobs which may be considered cosmetic or minor DO, in fact, need permits. Some examples of such are: Replacing roofing, siding, sheds, water heaters, replacing or conversion of heating systems, replacing or installing central air conditioning, porch repair, deck construction, above ground pool installation. There is a designated area within the town of Cranbury which has a “historic preservation” designation. Please inquire with the HPC (Historic Preservation Commission) Office prior to applying for building permits, if you are within that area of town. All historic and/or zoning approvals must be received prior to construction permits being issued. No inquiries are insignificant or unimportant and we encourage you to call our office or visit us during office hours with any questions pertaining to work that you may be considering doing or having done by professionals.
