CURBSIDE CHIPPING SERVICE
|
The chipping of brush and branches commences the third Wednesday of each month. This is usually the starting date, not necessarily the day that the chipper will collect your brush. Branches for chipping should be place curbside the weekend before the third Wednesday. They should be placed parallel to the road between the curb and the sidewalk beginning on the Saturday before.
To make the chipping process more efficient, please read the following.
1. All material to be chipped should be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the collection day. Let’s try NOT to place them out in the street 3 weeks before! It would be nice to have Cranbury branch free for a few days!
2. Do not place branches in the street or sidewalk.
3. Please place the branches with the cut ends together. This makes the job easier for the Public Works crew.
4. Branches should not exceed 12" diameter. All brush must be at least 3' in length. Although 3' is the minimum length, longer branches are much easier to chip.
5. Hedge clippings, twigs and small branches less then 3' (but not less then 1') must be bundled with string only (NO WIRE) and must be free of foreign debris, such as, stones, dirt, metal, sweepings and rakings.
6. No lumber, construction material, roots, thick tree trunks, or stumps are permitted.
7. Grass clippings are NOT considered to be chipping material.
It is our intention to help everyone understand the process of this valuable chipping service. If you are uncertain of chipping dates, route or wish to be placed on the chipping schedule, please call Town Hall at 395-0900 ext.229.
Thank you for your
consideration.
When holidays fall on a scheduled Monday, pick up is always on the following Saturday. Recently, there was much confusion of the altered pick up schedule and the holiday date change. The next holiday is Labor Day, September 5th. The rescheduled date for collection is September 10th. Please put your recycling curbside for this date!
This information, along with other useful information, can be found in the 2005 Recycling Guide & Collection Schedule or on the web at www.mciauth.com. If you are in need of the guide copy, they can be found in Town Hall, first floor, on the display ledge when you enter the building.
The Middlesex County Division of solid Waste Management subsidizes the sale of compost bins to County residents.

Three types of bins are available, ranging in price from $5 to $29. A free kitchen pail and composting guide are included with each purchase.

The Department of Public Works will pick up your white goods, curbside, the second Wednesday of every month. Residents who wish to participate in this program must pay a $10.00 permit fee for each appliance. Residents must also schedule for a pick up one week prior to the pick up day. White goods are defined as any heavy household metal appliance such as: stoves, washers, dryers, refrigerators, hot water heaters and grills (less the propane tank). To schedule a pick up date, call 395-0900 ext 229.
