Grant to Support
Environmental Inventory

One of the goals of the Environmental Commission this year is to update the Township's Environmental Resources Inventory (ERI). A professional consultant will be hired to prepare the ERI. To support the costs of this project, the Environmental Commission applied to the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC) for a grant, which has been approved for the amount of $5,000. Additional funds, up to $10,000, have been committed by the Township. The goal of the project is to have an up-to date ERI that is a source of current information for Township officials and the public on environmental resources within Cranbury. The new ERI will be a critical resource for the Environmental Commission, which will use it in evaluating proposals for development to determine whether environmental resources are present in the area of proposed development, and to evaluate what protection should be applied to those resources. The ERI will also serve as a source of informational material for Cranbury residents, who will learn about the environmental resources in town, how they should be protected, and (for some of the resources) how they can be enjoyed for recreation. It is our intention to make the ERI available on the Township's new website.

Fireworks are Illegal
in New Jersey

Leave fireworks to the professionals. Young people suffer the great majority of firework injuries, most frequently injuries to the eyes, head or hands. Losing your sight or losing a finger is a tragic price to pay for a few minutes of fun with fireworks. Even seemingly harmless sparklers cause many injuries, for children under 5, sparklers account for three quarters of all fireworks injuries.

The following are Illegal Fire Works: Caps, toy pistols, toy cannons, firecrackers, torpedoes, skyrockets, roman candles, sparklers, and other devices of similar construction.

For the safety of the public, the Fire Marshall will seize, take, remove or cause to be removed at the expense of the the owner of all fireworks.
