The April meeting of the Park Planning Commission was held in Town Hall, Cranbury, New Jersey, on April 11, 2007, at 8:45 a.m.
CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Tom Weidner called the meeting to order at 8:45 a.m. Kristen Hamilton acted as Secretary.
STATEMENT OF ADEQUATE NOTICE
Pursuant to the Sunshine Law, adequate notice in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act (N.J.S.A 10:4-5) was provided on January 2, 2007, of this meeting’s date, time, and place and the agenda was mailed to the news media, posted on the Township bulletin board, mailed to those requesting personal notice and filed with the Municipal Clerk.
MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE
Beth Veghte, Joan Smith, Tom Weidner, Chris Parker, Bill Schraudenbach and Kathy Wasson attended.
The minutes from the March 14, 2007, meeting were approved; motion by Chris; second by Tom.
Recreation – Beth advised that:
Arbor Day – The Arbor Day celebration and dedication of “Judy Dossin Meadow” is scheduled for April 27th. The Commission would like to have an article put in the Cranbury Press. Postcards should be sent to those who donated in Judy’s memory.
Recreational Master Plan – The Commission reviewed Tom’s email. The primary concern of the Commission is the preservation of the stream corridor and the redesign of Millstone Park. The Commission feels that all stream easements should be put on the maps and ground.
Bill questioned the backup plan for Millstone Park during closure for redesign and feels that a plan should be noted in the Master Plan. Bill also feels that the baseball and soccer officials should be consulted about the redesign.
Joan noted that there is nothing in the Plan to address recreational options for children not into organized sports.
Chris would like the Plan to specify how many people had input at the preliminary meetings.
The Plan will be presented to the Planning Board on April 19, 2007. All comments to be incorporated into Tom’s letter should be sent to Kristen by Friday, April 13, 2007.
Park Signage – Beth confirmed that signs have not been ordered for the parks, as there was never an agreement reached on the style of the signs. Beth feels that the signs should be included in next year’s budget request.
Gifts and Bequests Document – The document is mentioned in the Recreation Master Plan; however, no formal document has been received.
Budget - $2,000.00 was designated for Village Park tables and benches with nothing designated for Heritage Park.
Kathy would like to form a subcommittee to look for grants. Chris and Joan volunteered to assist Kathy.
Tom will contact Pat Scott to see if she is interested in becoming an alternate member of the Commission.
ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:15 a.m. Motion by Beth; seconded by Joan; all in favor.
