OLD BUSINESS

Park Signage and Bench Committee – No update.

Gifts and Bequests Document – The Secretary transmitted sample documents from other municipalities and organizations to all members for review.

Memorial Trees for Parks – First, the Commission must decide if memorial trees will be allowed and, if so, then decide if they will be in one specific area or if they will be scattered.  The Commission will visit each park in the spring.  If was suggested that the April meeting be held in Village Park, weather permitting.

Norma expressed her desire that native trees be used.  She recommended that the Commission look at the book “Bringing Nature Home” by Douglas Tallamy.

Plaques for Dedicated Trees – It has come to the Commission’s attention that Peddie School has dedication plaques on trees, which the Commission should view.

Tom has spoken to Babs Thomsen’s family and they wish to have a plaque similar to that used for the tree planted in memory of Judy Dossin.

Statuary – Joan advised that she spoke to Amy Amico of the Arts Council.  Some issues raised were if the statuary would be permanent or temporary and what type of underlayment would be required.  Ms. Amico advised that she would send out “feelers” to local universities and art schools for possible statuary to be loaned by students.  The Commission also noted that insurance coverage would have to be confirmed.

NEW BUSINESS

Recreation – Nothing to report.

DISCUSSION

Norma will contact Lorraine Sedor to have something put in the “Around Cranbury” column of the Cranbury Press advising the public to be on the lookout for the crocuses planted at Heritage Park.

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:40 a.m.  Motion by Tom; seconded by Joan; all in favor.
