TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING
The scheduled meeting of the Cranbury Township Municipal
Alliance Committee was held on April 20, 2004 in the Town Library, 23 North
Main Street, in Cranbury Township at 12:00 p.m.
CALL TO ORDER
With a quorum present, Joan Rue, Acting Chairperson,
called session to order at 12:15 p.m. and acted as Chairperson thereof, and
Kathleen S. Wasson acted as Secretary of the meeting.
STATEMENT OF ADEQUATE
NOTICE
Pursuant to the Sunshine Law, adequate notice in
accordance with the Open Public Meeting Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6) was provided on January
7, 2003 of this meeting's date, time and place and agenda was mailed to the
news media, posted on the Township bulletin board, mailed to those requesting
personal notice, and filed with the Municipal Clerk.
MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE
Acting Chairperson Joan Rue, Debbie Marra, Christine
Orcutt, Jean Golisano, Carol Malouf, Fay Kobland, attended.
Also in attendance was Cranbury resident Colleen Marsh and PTO President
Jane Holland.
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE

Sam Venanzi and Zara Stasi.
MINUTES
Minutes of March 16, 2004 were unanimously approved,
motion by Chris Orcutt; second by Jean Golisano.
OLD BUSINESS
- Joan reviewed the information contained in the
County Needs Assessment submitted on behalf of the MA.
NEW BUSINESS
- Joan asked prospective new members to submit a
letter of intent to the Township Administrator, Fred Carr, in order to
facilitate their appointment to the MA.
- Joan will soon be attending a mandatory meeting
for all County municipal alliance members - NCADD meeting, she invited
others to attend.
- On May 20th, at 6 p.m., every
alliance in the County will meet with County Coordinator Doug Breen. Others are invited to attend.
- Zara said that an activity night for 6, 7 and 8th
graders will take place in the gym, with lots of activities, and the
Cranbury School Jazz Band and Princeton Studio Band will play. It will be called the Jamfest and will
be held on May 7th. The bands will
play in the auditorium and it is open to the public. The event in the gym is open only to the
students. Joan asked whether the
Alliance would like to devote some funds to providing food at this
event. Jane Holland arrived, and
spoke about plans for this event. Jane
asked for approximately $125.00 to fund Rita’s Ices, which the kids
specifically asked to have. Some of
the money made from this event will be used to fund the 8th
grade trip. Captain Kahler and
Officer Owen said that they will attend, and Jane does not believe that
they will charge for their time. Motion
by Chris Orcutt to fund at least $125.00 and up to a maximum of $200.00
toward the Jamfest. The vote was
unanimous in favor of approval. Jane
also spoke about family nights planned for next year – pumpkin carving
night, a sing-a-long with John McClernan, cookie decorating night. They will also be working with the
student council to come up with ideas for dances, activity nights, etc.
for next year. Chris Orcutt said
that a family dance night would work well for the younger grades.
- 11 resumes were received from applicants for the
MA Coordinator position. Copies
will be distributed to the Alliance members with a copy of the job
description. There will be a
meeting May 4th to discuss the applicants. No meeting May 18th. The next regular meeting is June 8th.
- Chris said that planning is going well for the
Drug Free Fair, to be held on May 15th.
She informed the members of the activities planned. The MA would like to have a table – Jean
will handle this. Debbie suggested
providing general information about the MA. Chris suggested recruiting for new
members. The Alliance will pay for
the clown and donate extra funds for this event again this year.
- Chris Orcutt will handle the pool party again
this year.
- Chris Orcutt moved to appropriate $250.00 each
for the post-prom and post-graduation parties at Princeton High School
again this year. Second by Jean
Golisano; the vote was unanimous in favor of approval.
- JoAnn Charwin has found a program for girls which
will be implemented next year, with a structured curriculum. She does not need funds this year. Joan suggested tying in some follow-up
parent meetings to go along with this program. Carol suggested parent information
meetings.
ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
There being no further business, on motion duly made,
seconded, and carried, the meeting was thereupon adjourned at 1:25 p.m.
