TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING

            The scheduled meeting of the Cranbury Township Municipal Alliance Committee was held on December 21, 2006, in the Library meeting room, 23 North Main Street, in Cranbury Township at 8:15 a.m.

 

CALL TO ORDER

            Chairperson Jane Holland called the session to order and acted as Chairperson thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Secretary of the meeting.

 

STATEMENT OF ADEQUATE NOTICE

            Pursuant to the Sunshine Law, adequate notice in accordance with the Open Public Meeting Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6) was provided on January 4, 2006, of this meeting’s date, time and place and the agenda was posted on the Township bulletin board, mailed to those requesting personal notice, and filed with the Municipal Clerk.

 

MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE

            Jane Holland, Karen Henderson, Colleen Marsh, Joan Rue, Carol Malouf, Faye Kobland, Captain Kahler, Nancy Chambers and Beverly Gerberich attended the meeting.

 

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE

            Samantha Pinto and Leah Reiss.

 

MINUTES

            The Minutes of the November 16, 2006, meeting were reviewed and approved as amended on a motion by Joan Rue; seconded by Karen Henderson.

 

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE REPORT

            Jane asked the student representatives to make posters for JamFest. 

 

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

            Jane reported on the meeting held on Monday, November 20, 2006, with the Mayors of Princeton and Princeton Township, Mayor Panconi, Jay Hansen and Wayne Wittman. 

            Draft By-Laws were presented for review.  The membership information should be taken directly from the Township Ordinance.  A revised draft will be prepared for the January meeting.

            Jane showed the DVDs purchased from FACE, which she hopes can be shown at the 5th and 7th grade parent meetings.  Carol advised that she would review the DVDs during holiday break.

            Bev agreed to help Jane modify the literature received from Bergen County on underage drinking using “Publisher” software. 

           

POLICE REPORT

            Nothing to report.  Ed advised that the “Cranbury Press” is doing an article on drinking and driving and provided statistics for the last few years. 

            Jane questioned the training available for teachers and school staff on recognizing drug abuse among students.  Ed will find out more information.

 

BUDGET

            The MA reviewed expenditures to date and accepted the budget as presented. 

           

OLD BUSINESS

 

            Fun House – Twenty students attended the event held at The Fun House on December 15, 2006. 

 

            Public Announcement Contest – Beverly received 40 entries for the contest, which have been sent to the State.  Colleen, Karen and Joan agreed to judge the local contest, with the winners being announced at JamFest   $25.00 Barnes and Noble gift cards will be awarded to the grand prize winners and $10.00 gift cards to the winners in each grade. 

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

            Jam-Fest – Kristen has contacted Circus Time to hold the January 19th date and to request equipment.  It was decided that DDR mats and games should be purchased, due to the large expense for rental fees.

 

            Band Night – Jane received an inquiry from a band member interested in appearing at Band Night.  This event should be scheduled for the spring.

 

            Joint Event with John Witherspoon School – Jane spoke with Christine Capaci about a possible picnic with softball/baseball game to be held with John Witherspoon School.

            Joan recommended that the 8th grade attend a rehearsal of the production of Music Man to be held at Princeton High School in March.

 

 

DISCUSSION

 

            A sign should be made for the brochure rack advising that 2-1-1 can be contacted for hotline information.

 

            Joan suggested inquiring of Beth Veghte if a high school event could be scheduled on a Friday night after basketball.

            There being no further business, on motion duly made, seconded, and carried, the meeting was thereupon adjourned.
