TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING
The scheduled meeting of the Cranbury Township Municipal Alliance Committee was held on November 1, 2007, in the Library meeting room, 23 North Main Street, in Cranbury Township at 8:15 a.m.
CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Jane Holland called the session to order and acted as Chairperson thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Secretary of the meeting.
STATEMENT OF ADEQUATE NOTICE
Pursuant to the Sunshine Law, adequate notice in accordance with the Open Public Meeting Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6) was provided on January 2, 2007, of this meeting’s date, time and place and the agenda was posted on the Township bulletin board, mailed to those requesting personal notice, and filed with the Municipal Clerk.
MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE
Jane Holland, Colleen Marsh, John Haney, Mia Lindberg, Nancy Chambers, Fay Kobland, Karen Henderson, Joan Rue, Beverly Gerberich and Captain Kahler attended the meeting.
MINUTES
The Minutes of the October 11, 2007, meeting were reviewed and approved on a motion by Ed Kahler; seconded by Colleen Marsh. Jane Holland, John Haney, Mia Lindberg and Nancy Chambers in favor; Fay Kobland, Karen Henderson, Beverly Gerberich and Joan Rue abstained.
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
Jane advised that:
· She will be attending the next Township Committee meeting to explain the increase in the chat group expense.
· Equipment has been purchased from Dick’s Sporting Goods, i.e. 2 ping-pong tables, 2 foosball tables and 3 air hockey tables.
· Three Playstation 2s have been purchased so they will no longer have to be borrowed for JamFest.
· A “Fifth Grade Parent Alert” brochure was given to the fifth grade students. The remainder of the brochures will be put out at the Fifth Grade Phys. Ed Night.
POLICE REPORT
Captain Kahler had nothing to report. He did, however, ask what additional role the Police Department can have in MA activities. It was suggested that the Police speak with the 8th grade class in the spring to coincide with the “Wasted” performance. It was also suggested that an informational flyer with website information be prepared and put on the Township’s website.
OLD BUSINESS
Red Ribbon Week – Approximately 30 kids, including 8th grade Girl Scouts, participated in the tulip bulb planting. Jim Marsh rototilled the ground in preparation for the planting. A thank you note has been sent.
Middle School Dances – The MA offered to pay for a DJ for two middle school dances. John Haney will consider the proposal.
NEW BUSINESS
Band Night – The Methodist Church has been reserved for a band night on January 11, 2008.
DISCUSSION
Jane circulated a copy of an article “Register Kegs to Prevent Teen Drinking”. This is something the MA may want to become involved with.
Beverly Gerberich advised that the National Guard may be performing a helicopter landing for the Drug Free Fair. She will also look into their Rock Climbing Wall activity.
ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
There being no further business, on motion duly made, seconded, and carried, the meeting was thereupon adjourned.
