TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING

            The scheduled meeting of the Cranbury Township Municipal Alliance Committee was held on June 14, 2007, in the Library meeting room, 23 North Main Street, in Cranbury Township at 8:15 a.m.

 

CALL TO ORDER

            Chairperson Jane Holland called the session to order and acted as Chairperson thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Secretary of the meeting.

 

STATEMENT OF ADEQUATE NOTICE

            Pursuant to the Sunshine Law, adequate notice in accordance with the Open Public Meeting Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6) was provided on January 2, 2007, of this meeting’s date, time and place and the agenda was posted on the Township bulletin board, mailed to those requesting personal notice, and filed with the Municipal Clerk.

 

MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE

            Jane Holland, Karen Henderson, Ed Kahler, Nancy Chambers, Mia Lindberg, Joan Rue, Beverly Gerberich, Carol Malouf and Colleen Marsh attended the meeting.

 

MINUTES

            The Minutes of the May 10, 2007, meeting were reviewed and approved on a motion by Joan Rue, seconded by Colleen Marsh.  Beverly Gerberich abstained; all others in favor.

 

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

            Jane advised that she has not heard from Wayne Wittman regarding possible storage space solutions.  Colleen Marsh indicated that Colleen Brunskill may be willing to store items in her barn.  In response, Mia Lindberg informed the Board that Scott Naylor, who owns a moving company, is willing to store ping pong tables and foosball tables for free and would only charge in the event his company is required to transport items for the MA.  Mia will inquire if Mr. Naylor could also store air hockey tables.  A motion was made by Nancy; seconded by Bev, to purchase three ping-pong tables, three foosball tables and possibly air hockey tables.  All in favor. 

            Jane advised that she has not yet received an estimate for next year’s chat groups.  Carol advised that Patty Barber will not be returning next year and Joann Charwin is looking for a replacement.

 

POLICE REPORT

Ed provided a lesson plan for “Consequences of Drug Abuse” to be presented to the middle school.  The lesson should be scheduled for May of 2008.  Carol will make a note and advise the new School Administrator. 

BUDGET

            The MA reviewed expenditures to date and accepted the budget as presented.  Kristen will check with Middlesex County if additional funds are available for educational training. 

           

OLD BUSINESS

 

            Drug Free Fair – The Teen Tent was successful.  Bev advised that the Princeton High School football players and cheerleaders helped set up and agreed to come next year.

 

            Brochure – Bev provided a sample of the brochure she created for the Board’s review.  The brochure will be included in the August transportation mailing to high school students, the 8th grade report cards and opening day folders for middle school.

 

            Battle of the Bands – The Battle of the Bands is scheduled for Friday, June 15th at 7:00pm.  Joan volunteered to purchase food.   

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Summer Events – A band/movie night will be scheduled for July.  The plan is to have an opening band, a movie (“School of Rock”) and a closing band.  The event will be held in Village Park with the Methodist Church as a backup in case of rain.   Kristen will forward to Jane the list of dates already scheduled by the Recreation Department for its summer concerts.

It was suggested that a summer event be scheduled for middle school students.  Possible suggestions are a pool party, roller or ice-skating, or game night. 

The MA should explore the programs run by the National Guard.

            There being no further business, on motion duly made, seconded, and carried, the meeting was thereupon adjourned.
