Chairperson Jane Holland called the session to order and acted as Chairperson thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Secretary of the meeting.

Pursuant to the Sunshine Law, adequate notice in accordance with the Open Public Meeting Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6) was provided on January 2, 2007, of this meeting’s date, time and place and the agenda was posted on the Township bulletin board, mailed to those requesting personal notice, and filed with the Municipal Clerk.

Jane Holland, Karen Henderson, Carol Malouf, Ed Kahler, Nancy Chambers, Beverly Gerberich, Joan Rue, Mia Lindberg and Howard Zogott attended the meeting.

            Leah Reiss and Samantha Pinto.

The Minutes of the February January 11, 2007, meeting were reviewed and approved on a motion by Beverly Gerberich, seconded by Karen Henderson.  Jane Holland, Carol Malouf, Ed Kahler and Nancy Chambers in favor; Joan Rue, Mia Lindberg and Howard Zogott abstained.

The Student Representatives advised that they would like to see more games and prizes in the Teen Tent at the Drug Free Fair.  Bev advised that there will be DDR and karaoke and Leah and Samantha should give her game suggestions by March 28th.  Volunteers are needed to run activities.  The Municipal Alliance can probably give prizes.

Jane asked the Student Representatives to make posters for the April dance advertising a disc jockey and giveaways.

Jane welcomed Mia Lindberg to the Alliance.

Jane advised that everyone should have received a copy of the Resolution adopted by the Township Committee revising the terms of the MA members.  No one had any questions.

Ed Kahler advised that there was a current DUI with kids in the car, marijuana is very prevalent and Rx drugs (specifically OxyContin) are becoming a problem.  It was agreed that an article on “pharming” should be included in the next Township newsletter.

It was suggested that the police come to the school to speak about the consequences of underage drinking, driving without a license, etc.  The students should be advised that any school records follow them through high school.  Ed will gather information to be included on a card hand-out.

Noting to report since 2007 budgets have not yet been approved.

Band Night – 92 kids and 20 band members attended Band Night on February 24, 2007.  A $100.00 donation will be made to the Methodist Church.  The participants would like to do band nights more often.

Drug Free Fair – Plans are proceeding.  The bands which played at Band Night have been asked to play at the Drug Free Fair.  Oddfellows Hall is providing a DJ.

5th and 7th Grade Parent Meetings – It was requested that the DVDs on underage drinking be shown at the beginning or middle of the presentation so parents do not leave.

Mailing in 8th Grade Report Cards – Information is needed by June 20th.  The brochure from Bergen County will be sent to Ed for conversion.

By-Laws - Joan made a Motion; seconded by Karen to adopt the By-Laws circulated at the February meeting.  All in favor.

Possible Summer Activity – Battle of the Bands, held in conjunction with the Rec Department, will be held in June.  The MA should think of another possible activity to be held in the summer.

The MA discussed possible activities to offer high schoolers, such as a variety show, “American Idol” or a fashion show.  Jane will send an email to Angela of Princeton High School Student Services with possible ideas.

Newsletter – Ed advised that he can help with articles for the next Township newsletter.  An article on binge drinking should be included.

Nancy advised that a TQM request asked if the Municipal Alliance would fund a shed.  Concerns were raised about climate control and warping.  Kristen will contact public storage facilities for prices.

Howard advised that the library is working toward providing activities for middle schoolers.

Bev questioned if the MA could put information out on the PTO email list.  Information can be put on the Township’s website.

There being no further business, on motion duly made, seconded, and carried, the meeting was thereupon adjourned.
