STUDENT REP REPORT

The representatives advised that Student Council voted to keep the admission charge to JamFest at $5.00.  It was decided that a jar for additional change to be donated to St. Jude’s Hospital can be put on the table by the entrance.

A request was received to have Guitar Hero at JamFest.  Due to the lack of additional equipment, it is a possibility to include it next year.

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

Jane advised that she spoke to Princeton High School about doing a joint activity in Princeton and is waiting for dates.

Jane has spoken with Christine Capaci for possible dates to hold a parent’s meeting on computer safety and underage drinking.  As soon as a date is received and the meeting scheduled, the information will be put on the High School email.  The Municipal Alliance brochure and alcohol poisoning information will be sent out after the meeting.

Jane still hopes to get an opportunity to show the DVD on underage drinking at parent meetings.

POLICE REPORT

Captain Kahler reported on some recent DUI and drug arrests involving teens and young adults.

OLD BUSINESS

JamFest – The equipment is being delivered between 2:00pm and 3:00pm on Friday and will be picked up on Monday morning before 8:00am.  The items sold at JamFest will each be $1.00.

High School Band Night – Postcards have been sent.  The event has been advertised in “The Tower” – Princeton High School’s newspaper.

NEW BUSINESS

Drug Free Fair – The Municipal Alliance needs to start thinking of activities for the Teen Tent.  It will be purchasing the t-shirts and will purchase basketballs with the Municipal Alliance logo to use for a basketball shoot-out.

There may be a helicopter landing courtesy of the National Guard.

Community service hours may be earned by working at the Drug Free Fair.

Bev will inquire if the High School football players will help with set-up like they did last year and if they would be willing to take shifts in the Teen Tent.

BUDGET

Nothing to report.  Jane advised that she has spoken to Christine Smeltzer about a coordinator.  Christine will inquire of other municipalities about the possibility of sharing a coordinator.

DISCUSSION

Jane feels that the Chat Groups should discuss underage drinking and self-image.  She would like to hold a workshop for girls on self-image.

Joann Charwin is setting up a library in the guidance office and would like the Municipal Alliance to donate money for books.

Jane suggested that the Municipal Alliance give out an award at Middle School Award’s night.  Karen suggested that an award also be given at the High School level.  Christine Capaci is to check to see if any type of approval needs to be given.

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING

There being no further business, on motion duly made, seconded, and carried, the meeting was thereupon adjourned.
