TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING

The regular meeting of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board was held in the Thomas Gambino Room of the Cranbury Public Library on October 19, 2005, at 7:00 p.m.

CALL TO ORDER

With a quorum present, Rosemary Seghatoleslami, Chairwoman of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board, called the meeting to order and acted as the Chairwoman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Recording Secretary of the meeting.

MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE

Marie Dey, Warren Perrine, Jay Hansen, Jan Bayern and Rosemary Seghatoleslami.

NON-MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE

Mayor Rebecca Beauregard.

MINUTES

The minutes of the September 21, 2005 meeting were reviewed and approved.

WORK SESSION

Website – Mayor Beauregard with speak with Les Hendickson regarding the website. The Mayor suggested that Jan Bayern’s title be changed on the website from Welfare Director to Social Services Director.

Social Services Report – Jan Bayern reported that two calls were received this quarter. She had a phone call from a daughter inquiring how to reduce drug costs for her father. Jan supplied the necessary information to her.

Discussion –

Rosemary read a letter of resignation from Suzanne Lawrence.

Mayor Beauregard questioned the possibility of initiating the “Operation Reassurance Program” for seniors. In this program, interested parties would register with the police department and call in on a daily basis. If no such call was received, the police would do a welfare check.

Mayor Beauregard suggested providing 9-1-1 cell phones to seniors. Jay advised that he has phones. If this is something the HS Board would like to initiate, a notice should be put in the January newsletter advising of the availability of 9-1-1 cell phones.

It was agreed that the next Human Services Board meeting will be held on November 16, 2006. It was also agreed that the December 21, 2005, meeting would be cancelled.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
