MINUTES

The minutes of the May 18, 2005 meeting were reviewed and approved.

WORK SESSION

Website – Les checked the website using the Library’s internet connection and opined that the site was not easily accessible.  He will contact Tom Witt and/or the appropriate person regarding same.  Links to social services and bus information should be included on the website.

Social Services ReportJan Bayern was unable to attend the meeting, however she forwarded her report to the Chairwoman.  She reported that Cranbury hasn’t had any activity so far this quarter.  She addressed available help to aid Katrina evacuees.

New Business – A discussion was held on how to get new members for the Board.  A suggestion was made that a request for members be put in the Four Seasons newsletter.

            Discussion

Marie read a letter she received from Sally Giovannis requesting a donation for the hunger program at the Presbyterian Church.  Rosemary noted that a donation was always included in the budget allocation and will question Tom Witt regarding the proper procedure for requesting funds.

Mayor Beauregard raised the fact that since more seniors are now in the area, more services for them will be needed in the future.  She believes that there is available funding for free senior bus transportation.  Rosemary will get contact information from the Mayor and follow-up.

Mayor Beauregard also suggested that the Board look into a program to help medicare recipients sort through their bills.

The Board agreed that the bus route information should be included in the Township quarterly newsletter.

Les will restart the process of sending a letter to Rutgers requesting a graduate student to survey the needs of seniors.

It was agreed that the next Human Services Board meeting will be held on October 19, 2005.
