TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING

The regular meeting of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board was held in Town Hall on September 13, 2006, at 7:00 p.m.

 

CALL TO ORDER

With a quorum present, Rosemary Seghatoleslami, Chairwoman of the Cranbury Township Human Services Board, called the meeting to order and acted as the Chairwoman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Recording Secretary of the meeting.

 

MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE

John Ritter, Marie Dey, Warren Perrine, Jay Hansen, Jean Nostrand and Rosemary Seghatoleslami.

 

NON-MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE

            Anne Gordon.

 

MINUTES

The minutes of the July 19, 2006, meeting were reviewed and approved.

 

WORK SESSION

           

            Photo IDs – The photo id session scheduled at the Presbyterian Church for November 9, 2006, must be rescheduled.  Rosemary will contact Connie Bauder regarding same.

 

            Cranbury Senior Community Center – The “Recital Room” at Town Hall has been approved for use as a Senior Community Center, 5 days/week from 9am – 2pm.  This should qualify the Township for county and state aid for senior programs.  It was suggested that chairs be available in the hallway for those needing a place to rest.  A concern was raised over the safety of the ramp.

 

DISCUSSION

 

            Anne Gordon inquired if the Human Services Board would sponsor a collection of ambulatory care products, i.e. crutches, commodes, etc., for a non-profit group in Ewing.  The Board agreed to sponsor same.  Rosemary will include information in the Township newsletter.  Rosemary will ask Tom Witt if a drop off area could be set aside at the Public Works Department on clean-up day. 

 

The Board agreed that John Ritter will represent the Human Services Board on the Recreational Master Plan Subcommittee.

 

Rosemary and John will attend the Golden Age meeting on Saturday, September 16th, to hand out materials, advise of services available and inquire of interests and ideas.  They will also inquire what they would like to see the Cranbury Senior Community Center used for.  

 

John will look at websites of surrounding municipalities to get ideas for activities, which could be held, in the Senior Community Center.

 

The Municipal Alliance is hosting a program on Prescription Drugs, Alcohol and Older Adults on November 16, 2006.  It is requested that members of the Human Services Board attend the program.

 

The Recreation Board is holding a meeting for seniors to voice their recreational needs on October 11, 2006, at 7pm.  Due to the scheduling of this meeting, the October 11, 2006, Human Services meeting will be rescheduled to begin at 6pm.

 

The Recreation Board is planning a “Big Band” trip for seniors in the spring.

           

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
