MINUTES

The minutes of the July 6, 2004 meeting were reviewed and amended, motion to approve by, Diane Stasi, second by Bobbie Marlow, all in favor.

APPLICATIONS

Application made by Larry Bencze for Mr. & Mrs. Marino, 162 North Main St., (B26,L29.04)to install new bluestone over the existing bricked front porch.  Fieldstone will flank the vertical surfaces and bluestone on the horizontal surfaces, risers will be 7” wider, with a power coated iron railing and handrail.  Fieldstone will be used on a retaining wall along the drive with new steps.  Plans and application reviewed and approved by all.

Vijay, architect for 132 Plainsboro Road was present for discussion of the requested scaled drawings from the previous HPAC meeting.  DonJo reviewed these drawings and discovered a discrepancy with the one foot bump out.  Mathematically this does not work with the relation to the porch roof.  This was addressed and worked out.  The round symbol is a custom that is usually built into new homes.  According to the architect, the front peaks on the existing structure have been repaired or replaced.  The rear peak is level with roof ridge.  After discussion, it was HPACs feeling that this structure has a harmonious façade and its compatibility is acceptable in the buffer zone.

An emergency re-roofing application was approved on July 13, 2004 for Mark Janice of 110 Dey Road, (B25,L10).

DISCUSSION

HPAC would like to claim a closet to house their library of reference materials in the Gourgaud Gallery.  This would be the most sensible place, since the meetings are held in this room.  The secretary will discuss this with Fred Carr.

DonJo presented a Dover Publications brochure.  It is a mail order house for paper bound books.  He had selected several books that would be beneficial to have in the HPAC resource library.

The Chapter 93 timeline was briefly discussed.  This issue will see a set back in time due to a litigation concern that requires the attorneys’ attention.

The Barclay House will be auctioned in the fall of 2004.  Photos taken by Bobbie Marlowe were reviewed along with a letter and GIS map.  These items will be sent to the NJ Historic Preservation Office within the next week requesting a façade easement on this structure.

There are 15 other historic structures in the Township that have been researched and documented.  Having these structures submitted to the state for preservation may provide a heavy load in conjunction with the pending ordinance and Guidelines, along with the farmland structures.  One structure has been sold as a church and another has been privately sold.

Diane Stasi mentioned that she will be attending an historic preservation meeting in Cape May sometime in August.  She thought that this would be beneficial for HPAC to attend also.  Their meeting schedule will need to be sought to determine a date to attend.

Diane informed HPAC that she will be unable to attend the August 3rd meeting.

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING

There being no further business, on motion duly made by DonJo Swanagan , seconded Bobbie Marlowe, and carried, the meeting was thereupon adjourned at 8:35 pm.
