HISTORIC PRESERVATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

TIME AND
PLACE OF MEETING
The regular meeting of the Cranbury
Township Historic Preservation Advisory Commission was held at the Town Hall,
Cranbury, New Jersey, on February 21, 2006 at 7:30 p.m.
STATEMENT OF ADEQUATE NOTICE
Pursuant of the Sunshine Law,
adequate notice in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act (N.J.S.A.
10:4-5) was provided on January 4, 2006 of this meeting’s date, time, place and
agenda was mailed to the news media, posted on the Township bulletin board,
mailed to those requesting personal notice and filed with the Municipal Clerk.
CALL TO ORDER
With a quorum present, Bobbie
Marlowe, Chair, called the meeting to order and acted as the Chairperson
thereof, and, Linda M. Scott, Secretary for the Commission, performed as
Secretary.

MINUTES
The minutes of February 7, 2006
meeting were reviewed and amended. The
minutes will be retyped and placed on the next HPAC agenda.
APPLICATIONS
139
Plainsboro Road, (B23,L17) In
Surround Zone; Owner, Deepa Jose was
present for discussion of the proposed front porch railing. Ms. Jose was uncertain of the many details
asked of HPAC. After discussion of
different options for the railing, HPAC feels that more details will be
required. It was explained, to prevent
any confusion before the project begins, the contractor should supply these on
a drawing indicating the details. HPAC
denied this application, all in agreement.

Prospect Street, (B28,L15) In Historic District; This returning application (denied on February
7) was modified so both proposed arbors are the same style. It is noted that flat top pergola arbors of
the same style and design will be installed on the north and south sides of the
existing house. This application was
reviewed and approved, all in favor.
11 Perrine
Lane, (B18.04,L6) In Surround Zone; Application
for fence design received on February 17.
Proposed is for a rear yard installation that includes two 4’ wide
gates. HPAC reviewed, discussed and
approved this application, with all in favor.
DISCUSSION
Alana
Stops was available to attend the meeting.
Introductions were made with each member. Copies of each application were made for
Alana so she would be able to follow along with the HPAC application
process.
While
reviewing the past meeting minutes regarding 99 North Main Street, Harry
recalls that there are no garages that face or so close to the Main Street,
except for this garage. This is true for
the entire length from South Main at Rt.130 to North Main at Rt. 130 Bobbie informed all present that the garage
proximity was a decision that the was made by another board. Homeowner made final location decision. The construction official has not performed an inspection of this site; the
homeowner did not call to have an inspection.
A
motion by Bobbie Marlow to enter into closed session, second by Diane Stasi,
all in favor. Exec minutes of February 7
were reviewed and discussed. Shortly
thereafter, meeting was then re-opened for public portion with a motion by
Harry Williams, second by Bobbie Marlowe.
The exec minutes were approved with a motion by Bobbie Marlowe, second by Diane Stasi, all in
favor
Bobbie
spoke with Richard Stannard regarding the endorsement of Alana Stops to HPAC.
The
second reading of the pending HPC Ordinance will be on February 27, 2006.
Upcoming
all day training will have Diane and Kate attend at Drew University “Effective Preservation: A Workshop for
Historic Preservation Commissions” on March 4th.
ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
There being no further business, on
motion duly made by Bobbie Marlowe, seconded by Diane Stasi, and carried, the
meeting was thereupon adjourned at 9:10 pm.
