OF THE
ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION
CRANBURY, NEW
TIME AND PLACE OF
MEETING
The regular meeting of the Cranbury
Township Environmental Commission was held in Town
Hall on December 19, 2005 at 7:00 p.m.
CALL TO ORDER
With a quorum present, Peter Sibley,
Chairman of the Cranbury Township Environmental Commission, called the meeting
to order and acted as the Chairman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as
Recording Secretary of the meeting.
STATEMENT OF ADEQUATE NOTICE
Pursuant with the Sunshine Law, adequate notice in accordance with the
Open Public Meeting Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6) was provided on January 4, 2005 of
this meeting's date, time, place, and agenda, was mailed to the news media, was
posted on the Township bulletin board, was mailed to those requesting personal
notice, and was filed with the Municipal Clerk.

Chair.
NON-MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE

Stout, Township Liaison to the Environmental Commission.
MINUTES
The minutes of the October 17, 2005,
meeting were reviewed and approved on a motion by John
Kobland; seconded by John Reinfelder.
James Gallagher, Barbara Rogers and Pete Sibley in favor; James
Applegate abstained.
The EC reviewed Jim Waltman’s,
Executive Director of the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association, letter
published in the Cranbury Press on December 2, 2005, regarding the
property on Brick Yard Road which includes the remains of the Unexcelled
Corporation production facility. The EC
must be on the alert to any applications regarding this property.
WORK SESSION
Environmental Resource Inventory – The EC reviewed the draft maps
provided by Amy Greene Associates.
Barbara Rogers will contact Amy Greene Associates with desired changes
and questions.
Cranbury Brook Preserve – Jim Applegate will attempt to
contact the Natural Resources Conservation Service to see if the EC can proceed
with the reseeding of the “Scout Field” with native grasses.
George Conley V has completed the
message center and has installed three “No Motor Vehicle” signs. Pete provided possible information to be inserted in the center.
A brochure with a map is desired.
The EC reviewed the Cranbury Brook
Preserve map and noted that the “Brook Trail” should be added.
Jim Applegate and Pete Sibley will
tour the CBP in January with Sean Grace, Director of the Plainsboro
Preserve.
Dave Stout advised that the Township
Committee desires to change the name of the trail in CBP to “Meiss Trail” in
honor of Alfred N. Meiss. He asked that
Pete send an e-mail to Tom Witt indicating that the EC has no objection to the
name change.
Cedar Brook Water Sampling – Bill Mikula will proceed with
surface-water sampling with help from John Kobland and/or Jim Applegate. The Secretary will contact Accutest to
confirm water-testing arrangements and obtain the bottles for sampling.
NJDEP
Grant – Bill Mikula will be informed if the NJDEP
Grant requires an update report.
ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
There being no further business, on motion duly made,
seconded, and carried, the meeting was thereupon adjourned.
