OF THE
ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION
CRANBURY, NEW
TIME AND PLACE OF
MEETING
The regular meeting of the Cranbury
Township Environmental Commission was held in Town Hall on October 17,
2005 at 7:00 p.m.
CALL TO ORDER
With a quorum present, Peter Sibley,
Chairman of the Cranbury Township Environmental Commission, called the meeting
to order and acted as the Chairman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as
Recording Secretary of the meeting.
STATEMENT OF ADEQUATE NOTICE
Pursuant with the Sunshine Law, adequate notice in accordance with the
Open Public Meeting Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6) was provided on January 4, 2005 of
this meeting's date, time, place, and agenda, was mailed to the news media, was
posted on the Township bulletin board, was mailed to those requesting personal
notice, and was filed with the Municipal Clerk.

MINUTES
The minutes of the September 19,
2005, meeting were reviewed and approved on a motion by William Mikula;
seconded by Barbara Rogers. Tom
Patterson and Pete Sibley in favor; Jim Gallagher abstained.
The minutes for the closed session
portion of the September 19, 2005, meeting were reviewed and approved on a
motion by Peter Sibley; seconded by William Mikula. Tom Patterson and Barbara Rogers in favor;
Jim Gallagher abstained.
WORK SESSION
Cranbury Brook Preserve – Jim Applegate continues to
contact the Natural Resources Conservation Service on a bi-weekly basis.
Pete had a conversation with a representative
from the New Jersey Audubon Society regarding the Howarth barn and its possible
use to the Society.
The Director of the Plainsboro
Preserve is coming in December to walk through CBP.
Dave Stout expressed his desire to
honor Al Meese, who was instrumental in Cranbury’s preservation of Unami Woods
and other areas, and asked the EC to think about ways to do so, i.e. possibly
naming a trail in CBP.
Pete advised that he has received
calls regarding the debris build-up by the dam in
ERI – A digital parcel map has been
sent to Sean Ronan of Amy Greene Associates.
Tom Patterson will take photographs of land use and forward them on to
ASGECI together with the photos that Barbara Rogers has collected.
Tom Patterson will submit the
quarterly ERI update to ANJEC by November 15, 2005.
Volunteer Projects -
The Township Committee has approved George Conley V’s application for a
message center kiosk to be located on the West Property.
Pete is in possession of the Gully
Guards to be used for the storm drain inlets at the Presbyterian Church and
school parking lots during car washes.
All EC members should think about
additional volunteer projects for the list.
Cedar Brook Water Sampling – Bill Mikula provided the proposed
scope and parameter list. After much
discussion, some modifications were made.
Bill Mikula will provide an updated list
and will look into borrowing or renting a probe to check the ph,
temperature and DO (dissolved oxygen).
NJDEP
Grants – If an application is received, it should be forwarded to Bill
Mikula to complete in support of continued water sampling.
Soil Testing Kits – Tom Patterson provided the
results of 12 additional soil test kits from
ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
There being no further business, on motion duly made,
seconded, and carried, the meeting was thereupon adjourned.
