CRANBURY, NEW JERSEY
TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING
The regular meeting of the Cranbury Township Environmental Commission was held in Town Hall on August 21, at 7:00 p.m.
CALL TO ORDER
With a quorum present, James Gallagher, Acting Chairman of the Cranbury Township Environmental Commission, called the meeting to order and acted as the Chairman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Recording Secretary of the meeting.
STATEMENT OF ADEQUATE NOTICE
Pursuant with the Sunshine Law, adequate notice in accordance with the Open Public Meeting Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6) was provided on January 4, 2006, of this meeting's date, time, place, and agenda, was mailed to the news media, was posted on the Township bulletin board, was mailed to those requesting personal notice, and was filed with the Municipal Clerk.

James Gallagher, Thomas Patterson, John Kobland, Dietrich Wahlers and Barbara Rogers.
NON-MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE
Anna Drago and Will Sigle, a Rutgers student on a class assignment.
The minutes of the July 17, 2006, meeting were reviewed and approved on a motion by John Kobland; seconded by Barbara Rogers. Dietrich Wahlers in favor; Thomas Patterson and James Gallagher abstained.
Stream-Corridor Ordinance – Jim Gallagher will email the current draft of the Stream-Corridor Ordinance to all EC members, asking them to review and provide comments by a certain date. The EC would like to adopt the Ordinance at its September meeting.
The EC discussed the critical area and other aspects of the Ordinance. Tom Patterson feels that the wording of the Ordinance is strong.
The EC reviewed the sample Application for Stream Corridor Permit. Kristen will prepare the Application using Cranbury letterhead.
Preserve Management Plan - Nothing to report.
Cranbury Brook Water Sampling – Confirmation was received from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection extending the grant until December 30, 2006.
Environmental Resource Inventory –The ERI is posted on the website and copies have been given to the Planning Board, Zoning Board and Township Committee. Kristen will forward copies to the Township Historian and the Library. Barbara Rogers has prepared the final letter to ANJEC enclosing the ERI and requesting the grant monies.
Tom Patterson will send an email to Harry Strano of Amy Greene Environmental Consultants inquiring if he ever prepared the recommendations.
Cranbury Day – Bill Mikula and Jim Gallagher will set up the EC display on Cranbury Day. An email will be sent requesting volunteers to man the table. Barbara Rogers will get the supplies necessary for children to make pet rocks and will contact Jim Applegate to obtain rocks. Kristen will gather the information that was left from last year and arrange for soil testing kits to be available for distribution.
The EC reviewed the August 4, 2006, letter from Drinker Biddle & Reath regarding Cranbury Brick Yard. Dietrich Wahlers requested that the Secretary forward a copy of the letter to Jim Waltman of the Stonybrook–Millstone Watershed Association. The Secretary will inquire of the Township Clerk if she is in receipt of the reports referred to in the letter. If not, she will request copies of same for the EC’s review.
Dietrich Wahlers questioned erosion occurring on the “Holland House” property adjacent to the police station. Jim Gallagher will notify Bill Mikula of same.
ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
There being no further business, the meeting was thereupon adjourned.
