OF THE
ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION
CRANBURY, NEW
TIME AND PLACE OF
MEETING
The regular meeting of the Cranbury
Township Environmental Commission was held in Town Hall on August 15,
2005 at 7:00 p.m.
CALL TO ORDER
With a quorum present, John Kobland,
Acting Chairman of the Cranbury Township Environmental Commission, called the
meeting to order and acted as the Chairman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton
acted as Recording Secretary of the meeting.
STATEMENT OF ADEQUATE NOTICE
Pursuant with the Sunshine Law, adequate notice in accordance with the
Open Public Meeting Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6) was provided on January 4, 2005 of
this meeting's date, time, place, and agenda, was mailed to the news media, was
posted on the Township bulletin board, was mailed to those requesting personal
notice, and was filed with the Municipal Clerk.

James Applegate, James
Gallagher, William Mikula, John Reinfelder, Barbara Rogers, and John Kobland,
Acting Chair.
MINUTES
The minutes of the July 18, 2005,
meeting were reviewed and approved on a motion by William Mikula; seconded by
James Gallagher. Barbara Rogers and John
Kobland in favor; all others abstained.
WORK SESSION
Cranbury Day - John Kobland provided a list of
handouts and displays to be used at the EC booth. He will e-mail a sign up sheet to the EC
asking for volunteers to man the booth.
SBMWA Program in Cranbury Brook
Preserve – John
Kobland informed the EC that Rick Lear has e-mailed Pete Sibley regarding a
birding and insect walk which will take place on October 15, 2005. Anna Drago appeared prior to the meeting and
inquired whether the EC would like to co-sponsor the event. No one had any objection. Bill Mikula will send an e-mail to Pete asking
him if he saw any reason not to co-sponsor the event.
Cedar Brook Water Sampling – Bill Mikula suggested that water
sampling begin sometime in the fall. He
advised that he will have the scope and parameter list before the end of the
month. Arsenic may be included in
testing parameters.
Cranbury Brook Preserve – Jim Applegate has contacted the
Natural Resources Conservation Service regarding his letter dated June 30,
2005. It is preparing a response to the
changes that Jim forwarded.
Jim Gallagher expressed the
following concerns:

Applicant
should verify that UST systems and operations comply with UST regulations.
·
Applicant
should verify that floor drains have not and do not discharge to the
environment.
·
Applicant
should make certain that NJDEP Case Manager is aware of the planned development
and that the development will not exacerbate the soil and groundwater
contamination.
·
NJAC
7:8 et al. Stormwater Management Regulations prohibit recharging of stormwater
from service stations. The drainage
plans show stormwater from service station being directed to a stormwater
basin. Applicant should advise how it
will comply with stormwater management regulations.
Bill Mikula will contact the NJDEP
Case Manager to make sure he is aware of the application. Pete Sibley will forward a letter to the
Secretary of the Zoning Board outlining the EC’s concerns.
ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
There being no further business, on motion duly made, seconded,
and carried, the meeting was thereupon adjourned.
