ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION
CRANBURY, NEW
TIME AND PLACE OF
MEETING
The regular meeting of the Cranbury
Township Environmental Commission was held in Town
Hall on July 17, 2006, at 7:00 p.m.
CALL TO ORDER
William Mikula, Acting Chairman of
the Cranbury Township Environmental Commission, called the meeting to order and
acted as the Chairman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Recording
Secretary of the meeting.
STATEMENT OF ADEQUATE NOTICE
Pursuant with the Sunshine Law, adequate
notice in accordance with the Open Public Meeting Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6) was
provided on January 4, 2006, of this meeting's date, time, place, and agenda,
was mailed to the news media, was posted on the Township bulletin board, was
mailed to those requesting personal notice, and was filed with the Municipal
Clerk.

MINUTES
The minutes of the June 19, 2006,
meeting were reviewed and approved on a motion by John
Kobland; seconded by Dietrich Wahlers.
William Mikula in favor; James Applegate and
Barbara Rogers abstained.
Stream-Corridor Ordinance – Angela Clerico of the
Stonybrook-Millstone Watershed Association (SMWA) provided a draft Ordinance
and map for the EC’s review. Angela will
contact Amy Greene Environmental Consultants for a copy of the tax map overlay
which was used for the ERI, and revise the draft Ordinance in accordance with
comments and suggestions made by the EC prior to its August meeting. Angela will also forward the EC a copy of the
SMWA’s “Backyard Buffer” brochure. A
representative from the SMWA will be present at the August meeting.
Bill will e-mail a copy of the draft
Ordinance to the Secretary so she may distribute it to the EC members not
present for comments.
Preserve Management Plan - Nothing to report.
Cranbury Brook Water Sampling – Bill will forward a letter to
Joseph Rogers of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection
confirming the extension of the grant for six months.
Environmental Resource Inventory –Barbara Rogers will contact Tom
Patterson for the purpose of inquiring if there is any
additional work required on the ERI.
Barbara or Tom will advise the Secretary of what is required to request
reimbursement from ANJEC.
Cranbury Day – Responsibilities for Cranbury Day
will be divided between the EC members. The Secretary
will gather the information that was left from last
year. It was suggested that a display be
prepared with the ERI maps and a “make a pet rock” center be available.
The EC reviewed the application and
recommends that the Township Engineer evaluate the proposed stormwater
conveyance system to determine whether perforated stormwater piping would
reduce the volume of the proposed detention basin.
Anna Drago inquired if the EC was
aware of how the Township decides when and how low to drain the lake. Bill will question Tom Witt regarding same.
ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
There being no further business, the
meeting was thereupon adjourned.
