OF THE
ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION
CRANBURY, NEW
TIME AND PLACE OF
MEETING
The regular meeting of the Cranbury
Township Environmental Commission was held in Town Hall on March 20,
2006, at 7:00 p.m.
CALL TO ORDER
Peter Sibley, Chairman of the
Cranbury Township Environmental Commission, called the meeting to order and
acted as the Chairman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Recording
Secretary of the meeting.
STATEMENT OF ADEQUATE NOTICE
Pursuant with the Sunshine Law, adequate notice in accordance with the
Open Public Meeting Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6) was provided on January 4, 2006, of
this meeting's date, time, place, and agenda, was mailed to the news media, was
posted on the Township bulletin board, was mailed to those requesting personal
notice, and was filed with the Municipal Clerk.

NON-MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE
Anna Drago
and Dietrich Wahler.
MINUTES
Due to the lack of a quorum, the
review and approval of the February 21, 2006, minutes was deferred until the
April meeting. .
Stream-Corridor Ordinance –Bill Mikula will contact Angela
Clerico of the Stonybrook-Millstone Watershed Association for her help in drafting
a Stream-Corridor Ordinance, i.e. locating a consultant, applying for
grants. It may be desirable to have
Angela attend the April EC meeting.
Anna Drago advised that it is her
understanding that the Stonybrook-Millstone Watershed Association is appearing
before the Township Committee on March 27, 2006, for the purpose of addressing
the Stream-Corridor Ordinance. Pete will
contact Jim Waltman for clarification.
Dietrich Wahler advised that
Preserve Management Plan
- The EC reviewed Jim Applegate’s letter to Laura Coover of the Natural
Resources Conservation Service. It was
noted that the Plan will call for soybeans to be planted this year and the warm
season grasses to be planted next spring.
It is the EC’s hope that the revised Preserve Management Plan is
received prior to the April meeting.
Cranbury Brook Water Sampling – Pursuant to the DEP Grant, the
water sampling must be completed before June 30, 2006. Pete will prepare a letter to the DEP
advising that only one water sampling will be done.
Environmental Resource Inventory – The EC will present the ERI to
the Planning Board at its April 6, 2006, meeting. Members of the EC are encouraged to
attend. Barbara Rogers will invite
Barbara Palmer of ANJEC to the meeting.
Mr. Wahler questioned if the ERI
will relate to zoning. Pete explained
that the ERI maps are superimposed over the Township tax map.
Pete questioned the removal of soil
from the Updike property. Bill will
contact Freehold Soil regarding same and will also inquire of the status of the
Cranbury Development Corporation property (Block 10, Lot 10 and Block 12,
The first carwash of the year will
be held on Saturday. The EC will provide
soap and 50 copies of the car wash flyer.
Pete advised that he was invited to
a meeting regarding the Howarth barn.
Due to a conflict, he did not attend the meeting, but did advise Pari
Stave that the EC could use the barn two to three times per year if it was
placed near the Preserve; however, the EC would not want to take responsibility
for the barn.
Pete sent an e-mail to Katy Birckmayer inquiring of her
interest to serve on the EC. He did not
receive a response.
Pete advised that this was his last EC meeting. Bill Mikula will act as Chair at the April
meeting. Bill and John praised Pete for
his dedication to the EC.
ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
There being no further business, the
meeting was thereupon adjourned.
