CRANBURY TOWNSHIP

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION

CRANBURY, NEW JERSEY

TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING

The regular meeting of the Cranbury Township Environmental Commission was held in Town Hall on January 28, 2008, at 7:00 p.m.

 

CALL TO ORDER

James Gallagher, Chairman of the Cranbury Township Environmental Commission, called the meeting to order and acted as the Chairman thereof, and Kristen H. Hamilton acted as Recording Secretary of the meeting.

 

STATEMENT OF ADEQUATE NOTICE

  Pursuant to the Sunshine Law, adequate notice in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6) was provided on January 7, 2008, of this meeting's date, time and place; the agenda was mailed to the news media, posted on the Township bulletin board, mailed to those requesting personal notice, and filed with the Municipal Clerk.

            James Gallagher, Dietrich Wahlers and Paul Mullen. 

 

NON-MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE

            Anna Drago.

 

MINUTES

Due to the lack of a quorum, the review and approval of the December 17, 2007, minutes was deferred until the February meeting.

 

WORK SESSION

 

Preserve Management Plan – Three signs will be dropped off by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), which can be placed at the property.  The NRCS will visit the Preserve in the spring.

 

Stormwater Management Plan – An e-mail dated January 25, 2008, was received from Larry Plevier of Hatch Mott MacDonald, which coincides with the recommendations contained in the Environmental Commission’s letter dated July 20, 2007.

 

            2007 Year End Report and 2008 Goals – The EC reviewed and approved the draft reports.  Kristen will finalize and transmit.

 

            Toxicants and Synthetic Turf – The EC discussed the materials received on toxicants in synthetic turf and found the documents inconclusive.

 

            Stream Clean-Up – Andy White from the Stonybrook-Millstone Watershed will be attending the February meeting is discuss the upcoming Watershed-Wide Cleanup Event scheduled for the first two weekends in April. 

 

APPLICATIONS

Rajesh Wadhwa - Jim, Andy and other EC members will be attending the February 6, 2008, Zoning Board meeting to discuss the application.  Jim advised that he again reviewed the documents submitted by Dr. Wadhwa and sees no reason to change the EC’s response dated September 10, 2007.

 

Brick Yard Road Property – Jim, Andy and other EC members will be attending the February 7, 2008, Planning Board meeting for the conceptual review application filed by the owners of the Brick Yard Road property. 

 

DISCUSSION

 

            Dietrich was advised by Freehold Soil that it will be filing an Order to Show Cause against the owner of the Holland House.

 

            Norma Swale has requested that the EC co-sponsor a Women’s Club of Cranbury meeting scheduled for March 5, 2008, 12:30pm, at the Methodist Church, where a speaker from the Stonybrook-Millstone Watershed will be talking about rain gardens  The EC had no objections and will be glad to co-sponsor the meeting.

 

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING

There being no further business, the meeting was thereupon adjourned.
