OF THE
BOARD
OF HEALTH MEETING
October
6, 2005
Time and Place of
Meeting: The October monthly meeting, held at the
In Attendance: William Hart, Board Chair; Bernice Shapiro, Board Vice-Chair; Cheryl Coyle, Board
Member; John Jackson, Board Member; David E. Orron, Esq., Board Attorney; and
Kathleen Wasson, Board Secretary.
Call to Order: With
a quorum present, Chairman Hart called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. and
stated that adequate notice of the meeting’s date, time and place had been
provided to the public pursuant to the Open Public Meetings Act (N.J.S.A.
10:4-6 et seq.) by mailing to the media, posting on the Township
bulletin board and filing with the Town Clerk.
The Board proceeded with new business.
First order of business: September
Meeting Minutes
The September minutes
were unanimously approved; motion by John Jackson, second by Cheryl Coyle.
Second order of
business: Public Health Report
The Board members received the monthly report for
September, 2005. The Secretary reviewed
the substance of the report for the Board.
Third order of business: Environmental
Report
The Board members received the reports for the months of
June, July and September, 2005. Sharon
Martens was not present at the meeting.
Fourth order of business: Old Business
The Secretary reported that Jessica
spoke with the Chief of Police concerning Cranbury’s emergency response
plan. He said that his procedure is to
call the County in the case of an emergency.
He also said that the suggestion of a telephone chain is a good
one. Jessica told the Chief that the
Board members may want to speak with him at a future meeting.
Fifth order of
business: New Business
John and Cheryl received letters from
the County about attending a MAPP Coalition meeting on October 14th. Cheryl and Bill may attend.
The Chairman discussed the recent news
about the avian flu and encouraged the Board members to educate themselves about
the threats associated with this serious flu strain. The Chairman would like to have a
presentation at the next meeting about the flu.
There was a general discussion about
the 2006 budget. Cheryl suggested that
the Board sponsor a program for “The Great American Smokeout Day” in November
17th. There was a motion to approve the
budget by Cheryl Coyle; second by Bernice Shapiro.
The Secretary will draft a memo from
the Chairman to the Librarian asking about the idea of the Board funding a
resource area or a program on health issues.
Cheryl will check with Mrs. Malouf about doing a component in the school
for the smokeout day.
Public Forum: The Chairman opened the public forum at 8:05
p.m. No one from the public chose to
speak.
Adjournment: There
being no further business before the Board, Chairman Hart stated that he would
entertain a motion to adjourn. The
motion was made by Bernice Shapiro and seconded by Cheryl Coyle. The vote was unanimous in favor of
adjournment and the meeting was concluded at 8:10 p.m.

the Cranbury Township Board of Health and that this document, consisting of 2
pages, constitutes a true and correct copy of the minutes of the monthly
meeting held on October 6, 2005.
