MINUTES OF THE CRANBURY TOWNSHIP

BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING

October 7, 2004

 

Time and Place of Meeting:  The October monthly meeting, held at the Cranbury Town Hall, was duly opened by Chairman Hart at 7:00 p.m.

 

In Attendance:  William Hart, Board Chair; Bernice Shapiro, Vice-Chair;  John Jackson, Board Member; Michele Kemper; Board Member; Cheryl Coyle; Board Member; David E. Orron, Esq., Board Attorney; John Obryk, Registered Environmental Health Specialist, Middlesex County Public Health Department; Mike Donnelly, Middlesex County Public Health Department; and Kathleen Wasson, Board Secretary.  A concerned resident attended.

 

Call to Order:  With a quorum present, Chairman Hart called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. and stated that adequate notice of the meeting’s date, time and place had been provided to the public pursuant to the Open Public Meetings Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et seq.) by mailing to the media, posting on the Township bulletin board and filing with the Town Clerk.  The Board proceeded with new business.

                                                                                                                  

First order of business:  September Meeting Minutes

The September minutes were unanimously approved as amended; motion by John Jackson, second by Michele Kemper.

 

Second order of business:  Public Health Report

          The Board members received the monthly reports for September, 2004.  John Obryk reviewed the substance of the report for the Board.  No flu shots will be given in Middlesex County.  The Rabies Clinic will be held on October 23, 2004.  The Chairman asked whether any committee will be formed to look into the flu shot issue.  John said that there is not a committee yet, but he will keep the Board apprised.  Bernice asked whether the food handling course is ever offered for residents in the Town.  John said that, to his knowledge, it is not offered to residents – only restaurants.

 

Third order of business:  Environmental Report

          The Board members received the monthly report for September.  Mike Donnelly reviewed the substance of the report for the Board. 

 

Fourth order of business: Old Business

          Bernice reported that she has reviewed all of the materials from the Township Environmental Commission and felt that the recommendations were sufficient. 

 

Fifth order of business:  New Business

          The Chairman presented the proposed meeting dates for 2005 to the Board members.  A concerned resident asked whether the Board has considered offering workshops to seniors in Town on health issues.  The Chairman asked the Secretary to follow up on this for the next meeting.

 

Adjournment:  There being no further business before the Board, Chairman Hart stated that he would entertain a motion to adjourn.  The motion was made by Bernice Shapiro and seconded by Michele Kemper.  The vote was unanimous in favor of adjournment and the meeting was concluded at 7:31 p.m.
